Accessible Typing Test

A dictation-based typing test built for screen-reader users. Choose Easy, Medium, or Hard; the app reads words and sentences aloud while you type them, timed for one, two, or five minutes. Pick your own voice and speed, repeat any item on demand, and get your words-per-minute, accuracy, and a personal best at the end.

This is a dictation typing test. The app reads a word or sentence aloud, you type what you hear, and press Enter to move on. Make sure your sound is on. Choose a level and your voice settings, then start.

For the best experience, we recommend temporarily pausing your screen reader just before you press Start, so its voice does not talk over the dictation. In NVDA, press the NVDA key plus S until you hear “speech mode off”. In JAWS, press Insert plus Space, then S. Turn it back on the same way once you finish the test.

Choose a levelEasy — One minute. Single common words are dictated one at a time. A gentle warm-up.Medium — Two minutes. Short everyday sentences of about five to eight words are dictated.Hard — Five minutes. Longer full sentences with richer vocabulary are dictated.
